World Community Grid benefits from Jeopardy! competition

World Community Grid received fifty percent of the winnings from the Jeopardy! competition between IBM's Watson computing system and two past Jeopardy! champs.

In the first ever mortal vs. machine Jeopardy! competition, IBM's Watson computing system took on two of the most celebrated Jeopardy! champions - Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings.

The event was televised for three consecutive days – February 14, 15, and 16, 2011 -- and Watson won!!!!

World Community Grid was a recipient of a portion of Watson’s winnings, and these winnings were distributed to organizations that tap World Community Grid for their research projects.
