Experienced Team Administrator Explains Why He Supports World Community Grid

Olivier is a longtime volunteer from France who helps run the highly successful Crunchers Sans Frontieres team. In this own words, he explains what attracted him to World Community Grid.

Olivier Pierré (pictured above) is a longtime volunteer who helps run Crunchers Sans Frontieres, a successful distributed computing team with members from many countries.

My name is Olivier Pierré, and I am 42 years old. I am married and a proud father of three children. I live in the northeast of France and work in electronic security and surety, especially CCTV. Like a good little geek, I spend a lot of time on my PC. I love being with my family and enjoy good whiskey. :)

When I discovered World Community Grid, I was an administrator for another team on another online project. I knew the about the Crunchers Sans Frontieres team before I discovered World Community Grid. Access to the Crunchers Sans Frontieres team on World Community Grid was reserved only for the most active and loyal members and administrators. When I was recruited, I immediately liked the atmosphere in the forum and the quality of what I could read. And now, more than three years later, I am still part of this wonderful team along with with our founder and the other team administrators.

When I discovered World Community Grid, its relevance, the quality of its publications, the high level of information for the volunteers as well as results it provides to scientists, there was no question: I had to put my machine on the project and contribute to all of this. And I am still crunching on World Community Grid today.

All of World Community Grid’s projects are very interesting, but I prefer the medical research projects. If I had to pick just one, it would be Mapping Cancer Markers.

One last word: A very big thank to the whole team for all that you do. I wish you a beautiful future, and especially more volunteers. All members of the Crunchers Sans Frontieres team are proud to bring you our contributions.
