Southern California Partner Delivers World Community Grid's
200 Millionth Research Result

On July 28, World Community Grid announced the "200,000,000th Result Challenge," a contest open to all teams to see which team would return this result milestone and which team would return the most results during the challenge.

In just under four years of operation, World Community Grid has returned over 200 million results to the researchers. This translates into volunteers returning results at an impressive rate of just under 3 results per second.

The 200 millionth result was delivered by Yuri Litvin, team captain of (mt) Media Temple, Inc., an industry-leading, privately held web hosting and software services provider located in Culver City, California. Litvin, a World Community Grid enthusiast, has inspired his colleagues and management to grow their company team significantly in just over one year; since July 2007, they have contributed an incredible 383 years of run time.

The overall team challenge winner was "L'Alliance Francophone," posting an incredible 746 years of computer run-time, more than any of the other 20,455 teams that are part of World Community Grid. Created in November 2005, this team now boasts more than 2,400 members.

As the winner of the challenge, Litvin, as well as the team captain of the L'Alliance Francophone team each received a World Community Grid t-shirt and a Thank You certificate.

"It feels tremendously rewarding to be a part of such an important and innovative approach to solving some of the world's most challenging social, environmental, and health problems," said Litvin. "As a technology company with customers around the globe, (mt) Media Temple is proud to be harnessing technology and leveraging our own computer power to find solutions that can benefit quality of life everywhere."
