Locate the downloaded BOINC Windows Installer (the location will vary depending on your browser).

Double-click to run the installer, and then follow the prompts that appear.
3. Login to BOINC

Once the installer has finished, the BOINC Manager will automatically log you in to World Community Grid. If it doesn’t, enter your World Community Grid username and password.
4. Start contributing

Congratulations, you are now connected to World Community Grid and ready to start contributing!
Just continue using your device as you normally would, and World Community Grid will harness your spare power for scientific research.

What next?1. Locate BOINC

Locate the downloaded BOINC Installer, and double-click to start installing. Follow the prompts to install.
2. Launch BOINC Manager

The BOINC Manager should run automatically after you’ve installed it. Select “Add project” and click “Next”.
If it doesn’t, locate and open the BOINC Manager (in your Applications folder by default).
3. Select project

From the list of projects, select World Community Grid, then click “Next”. Enter your World Community Grid username and password if prompted.
4. Congratulations

Congratulations, you are now connected to World Community Grid and ready to start contributing! Just continue using your device as you normally would, and World Community Grid will harness your spare power for scientific research.

Open the app and select World Community Grid from the list of BOINC projects.

3. Installation
We recommend installing the BOINC client directly from the Ubuntu/Debian repositories.
1. In a terminal window run the following command:
sudo apt-get install boinc-client boinc-manager
2. Start the BOINC Manager:
boincmgr -d /var/lib/boinc-client
3. When BOINC Manager opens, select World Community Grid from the list of BOINC projects then connect to World Community Grid by entering your log in credentials.
4. On completion of these steps, you should see a screen confirming that you have successfully signed up to World Community Grid.

We recommend installing the BOINC client directly from the Red Hat repositories.
1. In a terminal window, run the following command:
sudo yum install boinc-client boinc-manager
2. If you can’t find the BOINC libraries, follow these steps to enable additional repositories. If you are an IBM employee:
- Go to Computer -> More Applications -> Open Client Welcome Center -> Applications
- Click on “Additional Software Repositories”
- Click on “Enable”
3. Set the BOINC client to automatically start after you restart your computer:
sudo chkconfig --level 345 boinc-client on
4. Open the BOINC client:
sudo /sbin/service boinc-client start
5. Add your Linux user to the BOINC group to allow the BOINC Manager to communicate with the BOINC client
sudo usermod -a -G boinc $USER
6. Allow your terminal to pick up the privileges of the new group:
exec su $USER
7. In the same terminal window, start the BOINC Manager:
boincmgr -d /var/lib/boinc
8. When BOINC Manager opens, select World Community Grid from the list of BOINC projects then connect to World Community Grid by entering your log in credentials.
9. When these steps are completed, you should see a screen to confirm that you’ve been successfully signed up to World Community Grid.
